Greening High Path

In partnership with Sustainable Merton, we piloted a balcony greening project at High Path, with the aim of enabling residents of phase 1 of the regeneration to ‘green up’ their balconies. We ran two resident planting days in June and October 2022. In the first, residents planted up large rectangular wooden planters with their choice of plants. In the second session, residents returned to plant up terracotta planters with layered bulbs for the autumn. You may spot the results as you wander through the estate.

In summer 2023, Clarion donated 4 semi-mature trees to Merton Abbey Primary School, which neighbours the High Path estate. Year 1 and 4 pupils got involved in the tree planting, learning about the 2 new gingko and 2 new cherry trees on their playground. A further 10 trees will be donated to various estates in Merton.

Future citizens

For the last 5 years, we have worked closely with Merton Abbey Primary School to deliver ‘regeneration week’. Pupils and their parents can learn about the future plans for their neighbourhood through activities with architects, Clarion’s regeneration team and contractors. This has included model making, site visits, talks and tree planting.

We also work with Harris Academy, a local secondary school, running boxing courses and employment and training advice.

Uptown Youth Club has been an important partner for us on High Path, helping inform the design of the future neighbourhood. We in turn have supported Uptown with funding to develop their activities, including programmes tackling knife crime.

Augmented Reality Workshop

It's been busy around High Path. Children from Merton Abbey Primary School had fun at a workshop creating content about the regeneration for an augmented reality app. Year 3 pupils and their teachers filmed interviews with local people about the regeneration. Markers around the school were integrated into a film with the interviews so pupils could view the video content produced by their classmates by scanning the marker. The workshop was run by ebrik which provides the High Path Live platform which allows residents to view the progress of their new homes as they are being built.

Masterplan Phase 1

The masterplan below shows phase 1 of the regeneration. You can see the layout of blocks A-F in relation to each other.

Job Opportunities

Phase 1 of the regeneration delivered a number of job and training opportunities for local residents. There are no future opportunities as the phase has now been completed.
